Petrol Injector Testing

ASNU petrol injector testing

Petrol Injector Testing and Cleaning

Did you know we can test and clean petrol injectors? We’ve invested in an ASNU petrol injector machine, allowing us to service your injectors and optimize your engine’s performance. This service is often paired with an Intake Valve Carbon Clean. This is because it’s efficient to test and clean the injectors while the engine is already open.

What is GDI Injection?

GDI stands for Gasoline Direct Injection. A system where fuel is injected directly into the combustion chamber at extremely high pressures, often up to 200 bar. Unlike traditional manifold injection systems, GDI requires advanced components; such as stainless steel fuel pumps and injectors capable of delivering precise quantities of fuel at high pressures and in fractions of a millisecond.

These systems are controlled by high-specification ECUs, some capable of supplying up to 90 volts. While many manufacturers produce GDI systems, Robert Bosch is widely recognized as a leader in the development of this technology.

What Does the ASNU Machine Do?

The ASNU system is designed to safely test and compare injector performance under controlled conditions. It allows for visual examination of each injector individually or in sequential mode. Simulating a range of millisecond and RPM driving cycles pre-programmed into the system.

The injectors are tested at varying RPM and millisecond settings to identify any inconsistencies in performance. After testing, they are cleaned using an ultrasonic bath, and any necessary seals are replaced to ensure optimal functionality.

This comprehensive process ensures your injectors are performing at their best. Contributing to improved engine efficiency and reliability.

Symptoms of needing your petrol injectors tested and cleaned

If your petrol injectors are clogged, leaking, or not working properly; your vehicle may show several signs that something is wrong. A faulty injector can affect performance, fuel efficiency, and overall driving experience. If you notice any of the following symptoms. It may be time to have your injectors tested using an ASNU injector diagnostic machine.

One of the most noticeable signs of injector issues is poor fuel economy. If your car is using more fuel than usual, it could be because the injectors are not delivering the right amount of fuel into the engine. When injectors become clogged, they may not spray fuel efficiently. Causing the engine to burn more fuel than necessary. This can lead to increased costs at the pump and unnecessary strain on the engine.

A rough idle or misfires are also common indicators of injector problems. If your car feels unstable while idling, shakes, or has fluctuating RPMs, it could mean the injectors are not supplying fuel evenly. When fuel distribution is inconsistent, the engine struggles to run smoothly, which can lead to misfires. These misfires can cause hesitation when accelerating or an overall loss of power, making the car feel sluggish and unresponsive.

Hard starting or failure to start can also point to injector trouble. If the injectors are leaking or blocked, the engine may take longer to fire up, requiring multiple attempts before it starts. This happens because the fuel is either not reaching the engine correctly or is flooding it due to leaks. This issue can become worse over time, leaving you stranded when you least expect it.

More issues include;

Another telltale sign of injector failure is excessive exhaust smoke. A damaged injector can cause the fuel mixture to be too rich, leading to black smoke from the exhaust. In some cases, unburned fuel can escape, resulting in white smoke. Either of these symptoms suggests that your injectors are not functioning properly, affecting both performance and emissions.

A strong fuel smell inside the car or in the engine bay can indicate a leaking injector. If fuel is escaping instead of being properly injected into the engine, it not only affects performance but also creates a safety hazard. Leaking fuel increases the risk of fire and should be addressed as soon as possible.

If your car has recently failed an MOT due to high emissions, faulty injectors could be the cause. Injectors that do not spray fuel properly can lead to excessive carbon buildup, increasing emissions and making it harder to pass environmental tests. Keeping your injectors in good condition is essential for both performance and meeting legal emission standards.

Engine knocking or detonation is another issue caused by malfunctioning injectors. If the fuel injectors do not spray consistently, the engine may run too rich or too lean, which can lead to knocking sounds. Over time, this can damage engine components and lead to expensive repairs.

How to Diagnose;

Using an ASNU injector testing machine allows us to diagnose these issues accurately. This advanced equipment measures fuel flow rates, checks for blockages, and cleans the injectors using ultrasonic technology. A professional injector test and clean can restore performance, improve fuel efficiency, and extend the life of your engine.

If you’re experiencing any of these symptoms, don’t wait until the problem gets worse. Contact us today to book an injector test and keep your vehicle running smoothly. You can also send the injectors to us! Just give us a call and let us know, package them up and post directly to us!
